What is auriculotherapy or ear acupuncture?

Auriculotherapy refers to the complete range of treatments via our ear. Ear acupuncture is a way to stimulate the acupuncture points. Our ear surface forms a reflex zone on which all organs of the body are represented. There are over 100 acupuncture points on the ear, which we can use for diagnosis and therapy.

If disorders are present in certain organs, these can be recognized and treated at the ear. Often a chronic organ weakness can already be recognized externally. The ear can thus also provide important assistance in the diagnosis of physical or psychological weaknesses. It is possible to proceed in such a way that your ear surface is examined for irregularities and pain-sensitive (pressure-dolent) points in the affected area are palpated in order to treat them afterwards.

These points can be related to your body as well as to mental states. Accordingly, ear acupuncture is used for the treatment of psychological disorders as well as for the treatment of physical diseases and pain conditions.

Ear and central nervous system - a close relationship

According to Dr. Paul Nogier, who developed the therapy over 50 years ago, there is a close connection between our ear and pain centers in the brain. The path from one to the other is very short, which is why stimulation of the ear points can often have a direct effect.

In this case, complaints subside immediately. But ear acupuncture can do more than that: it can also have excellent effects on allergies and psychological problems, such as eating and concentration disorders, mild depression and upset, and especially in the treatment of addictions.

Ear acupuncture for children

Auriculotherapy can also be used very well in children. It can also be performed without needles, depending on the case by gentle ear massage with acupressure of the acupuncture points or painless treatment with a soft laser.

What can be treated?

In principle the whole body. Typical areas of application where good results have been observed time and again are

How is the treatment performed?

First, a thorough anamnesis is taken in the form of a conversation and a thorough examination. This is followed by a treatment cycle at regular intervals of 5 sessions in acute cases and about 10 sessions in chronic cases.
